Frequently Asked Questions
Our Membership Model
What is the cost of the membership?
The cost of our membership fees vary by provider. New patients establishing with an NP will pay a one time enrollment fee of $200 at the time of their initial consultation, and then $100/month thereafter. New patients who would like to work directly with Dr. Hancock will pay an enrollment fee of $300, and then $150/month thereafter.
What’s included in the membership?
The membership fee covers all follow up visits with providers, including in person and telehealth consultations. Follow up appointments are typically scheduled no sooner than once a month, unless an urgent matter arises. If an urgent appointment is needed, members may place a request for a more immediate appointment. Membership also includes access to supportive therapies like herbal compresses, foot baths, and therapeutic art sessions. All integrative therapies like IV infusions, hyperthermia, subcutaneous treatments, etc, are paid for separately, in addition to the membership fee.
What is your cancellation policy?
Memberships continue on a month-to-month basis, which allows patients to cancel at any time after their first month of membership. A patient must contact the office prior to their next billing cycle to place a cancellation request. If they would like to rejoin our practice in the future, they will be charged an enrollment fee and a consultation fee to re-enroll.
Out of State/Out of Town Patients
How do you support patients who live out of town/out of state?
All patients who live outside of Georgia must be seen in our clinic at least once before anything can be prescribed, including subcutaneous mistletoe and repurposed medications. Many patients will choose to have their initial consultation set up as a telehealth visit until a treatment plan is created. Having a personalized care plan in place will better inform patients who are making travel arrangements and seeking accommodations.
Do you offer telehealth consultations? Yes, our providers can meet with patients through phone or Zoom consultations but will not be able to prescribe anything to out-of-state patients until they are seen in person. Many of our patients who complete an intensive in-clinic series of treatments will continue to receive support through telehealth follow ups with their providers. Sometimes patients may visit our facility again for in-clinic treatments as needed, however, a large percentage of patients successfully implement treatments at home (like subcutaneous therapies, repurposed medications, and IVC at local infusion facilities) while they receive continued remote support with labs, supplements, and lifestyle modifications.
Do you offer accommodations or have lodging recommendations? We are a small outpatient clinic and do not offer on-site lodging. We have several recommendations for nearby private rentals that provide special rates for our patients. Additionally, the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge offers free accommodations to patients traveling to the Atlanta area for cancer treatments. Please note that their lodging availability may fluctuate and they require a caregiver to be present during the patient’s stay.
What if the patient is unable to travel and/or does not want to enroll in the membership? Can a patient pay for one-off telehealth consultations? Patients may choose to work remotely with our visiting integrative oncologist, Dr. Ketterl, who serves as a consulting provider. She provides support via phone consultations and can give recommendations for integrative treatments or offer a second opinion. Patients may also choose to work with Dr. Hancock remotely through provider consultations that are set up between him and their local provider. Dr. Hancock would serve as a consulting provider while the patient’s local provider continues to serve as their prescribing provider. This arrangement would be beneficial if the patient’s local provider is open and supportive of implementing Dr. Hancock or Dr. Ketterl’s recommendations, since our providers cannot directly prescribe anything to the patient without seeing them in person.
Costs of Integrative Cancer Therapies
What are the costs of treatments?
Due to the nature of our personalized treatment plans, the cost of care is highly variable. Some patients who come to our clinic for a 4-6 week intensive series of treatments may expect to pay between $10-20k or more. Other patients may only be getting one or two treatments a week which may cost around $300-400. There are many patients who implement subcutaneous treatments at home, spending an average of $150/month when a maintenance dose is reached. After new patients complete an initial consultation, an individualized care plan will be created which will provide more clarity about the expected cost of treatments. Our providers do their best to create the most effective care plans that will also be sustainable for patients to implement, taking into consideration financial or travel constraints.
Do you accept CareCredit or provide any financial aid?
We do not accept CareCredit at this time. We have worked with wonderful organizations which have provided grants to many of our patients. Some of these organizations include Believe Big and the United Breast Cancer Foundation. Many of our patients have also raised funds via networking and crowdfunding, utilizing platforms like GoFundMe or raising money through their churches and other support networks.
Health Insurance
Do you accept health insurance?
We do not accept health insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare since many of the integrative cancer therapies we administer are considered investigational and are not FDA approved. We are happy to provide patients with superbills if they would like to submit an itemized invoice to their insurance or health share company to see if any services may be covered.
